CLEAN WATER WELL DRILL TRUCK FUNDRAISER

Help us scale operations, drill through more rocky terrain and reach deeper clean water aquifers. The goal of this fundraiser is $425,000 for the acquisition of a new clean water well drill truck, which will allow us to drill in high-need places like Mwanza.

Drill Truck Fundraiser For Harder and Deeper Clean Water Well Drilling

The flagship program of Hearts and Hands for Humanity is to drill clean water wells using the H3 custom-designed human-powered drill. Providing clean water helps to reduce sickness and death caused by water-related disease, especially for young children. Common drill sites are at schools and farms. By drilling a well at a school that allows children, especially young girls, the opportunity to go to school since they don’t have to be out for hours fetching water at whatever water source they can find miles away. This even makes young girls less susceptible to violent crimes. When a well is drilled at a farm, that helps produce crops in areas of extreme poverty.

The human-powered clean water well drill has been phenomenal in helping us drill hundreds of clean water wells at 1/4 the cost of wells provided by other charities, and we will continue to use this fantastic invention where ever we can to provid clean water in East Africa.

Yet, there are cases when a human-powered drill is not enough to get through rocky terrane or reach deeper clean water aquifers.

There are certain places, like Mwanza where the hard, rocky soil won’t permit a human-powered drill to penetrate. Currently, we have over 30 schools lined up in Mwanza, Tanzania, that urgently require access to clean water. We have successfully drilled one well in the region; however, this necessitated the rental of a drill truck. Acquiring our own drill truck would enable us to efficiently install numerous additional life-saving clean water wells in Mwanza and throughout other regions of East Africa.

The human-powered drill can reach 250 feet in depth, and sometimes clean water aquifers are simply deeper than that. Many of the wells needed by Mully Children’s Family require that we reach aquifers that are 700-900 feet deep.

Hearts and Hands for Humanity would greatly benefit from owning a drill truck to provide life-saving clean water wells. It would improve the mobility of operations and increase the capacity to provide clean water to more communities who desperately need it. Help Hearts and Hands for Humanity scale its operations, and ensure sustainable access to life-saving drinking water, thereby combating issues such as waterborne diseases and poverty in underserved areas.
