The H3 Orphanage currently has 35 children living in one room.
$50 per month would go a long way towards providing for their ongoing needs such as food, clothing (including school uniforms), school fees, medical costs, and staff salary.
The goal for the H3 Orphanage General Fund is to raise $10,000 to cover initial costs and $5,000 per month to cover ongoing costs.
Donors have the option to contribute to the H3 Orphanage General Fund or Sponsor A Child. There is also a fundraising campaign for a new property and building.
H3 Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania
The Hearts and Hands for Humanity (H3) Orphanage was intially established by an amazing young man named Kennedy. As the founder he has done a great job of providing a home and life’s essentials.
Hearts and Hands for Humanity has provided financial support and helped directly with operations since 2021; H3 has had full responsibility for this orphanage since 2023. It was a large committment, but one that we’ve accepted with our whole hearts, because it is easy to fall in love with these children.
The orphanage has 35 children living in one room. Each child needs food, clothing, school uniforms, school fees and medical services throughout the year. School uniforms are especially required for them to attend school. Orphanage operations also include building maintenance and staff salaries.
There are currently three seperate fundraising efforts: H3 Orphanage General Fund (GF), Sponsor A Child, and the H3 Orphanage New Property Fundraiser.
Meet the Matron: Rose Lyimo
In the United States, the term “matron” is not used like it was used traditionally, but in Tanzania it is still used. Its the same title as “director” or “administrator” for the orphanage. Rose does a fantastic job caring for these children. She and the entire staff are a valuable boots-on-the-ground resource to help operate this orphanage and we consider them family, just like all of the members of our African teams. A benefit of all the work that Hearts and Hands for Humanity provides to East Africa is that the programs help employ hard-working and much-deserving invididuals in countries where jobs are scarce. Rose is one of those individuals.

A $50/mo donation would not cover the entire cost of living for each child, but it would go a long way toward providing them with room, board and clothing.

Sponsor A Child at the H3 Orphanage
All 35 children at the H3 Orphanage have ongoing needs including food, clothing (especially school uniforms), school fees, and medical expenses.
- A $35/mo donation would cover a child’s food expenses.
- A $50/mo donation would cover a child’s room, board and clothing expenses.
- A $75/mo donation would cover all their expenses, including school fees, medical and other expenses.
As a donor you have the opton to select the child you’d like to sponsor.
We need your heart to join with ours in caring for these 35 children. These are God’s children and we trust in Him to provide for them. We invite you to be part of God’s work in caring for them.
Each child has ongoing expenses including food, clothing, school fees and medical expenses. Each child needs their own school uniform in order to attend school. Here is a breakdown of what they need to cover their expenses:

- $75/mo would cover all expenses, including school, medical and other expenses.
The option to sponsor a child can be an especially touching opportunity for those who have traveled with Hearts and Hands on a Humanitarian Safari, and have met these children in person. If you have already made a special connection with one or more of these children then this is the place where you can select to help them on an ongoing basis. If you have not met them, consider going with us on the next trip. It’s an amazing and unforgettable experience. They are special souls who deserve a chance in life and hope for a better future, and it is a blessing to get to know them.

H3 Orphage Property Fundraiser
The H3 Orphanage currently has 35 children living in one room. Help Hearts and Hands for Humanity build a better home where these children can learn, grow and thrive. The goal for the H3 Orphanage Property Fundraiser is $256,800 to cover land and construction.
The current location for the H3 Orphanage has all 35 children living in one room. Almost anything besides sleeping has to be done outside, including bathing, playing, washing clothes, etc. Hearts and Hands for Humanity has a vision to provide better living quaters and a more complete home for these children so that they can have the space and resources to live, learn and thrive.
Hearts and Hands has scouted a property that is $156,800. Once the property is purchased it will cost about $100,000 to construct a new home. This home will have multiple bedrooms (at least two so boys and girls can sleep, dress and have privacy in separate rooms), a kitchen, wash room, indoor bathroom, and indoor play area. The home will also have electricity and plumbing. The plumbing will include a water tank and pump which will be supplied by a clean water well. The clean water well will also provide clean, drinkable water for the surrounding community.

Unlike other charties which provide humanitarian work in Africa, Hearts and Hands for Humanity provides an option for donors to actually meet the people they are donating to. You don’t have to donate to some abstract stranger across the ocean that you hope the money will go to.
