Volunteer At Neema Village Infant Rescue Center, Tanzania, Africa
Neema Village is a child rescue center in Tanzania, Africa. They care for orphans from birth to two years old, including many who were abandoned. Part of their program is to bring in volunteers to care for these babies, which could include holding them, playing with them and feeding them. Their facility and their program is amazing. Learn more about Neema Village.
We installed a clean water well for Neema Village through a generous grant from Vasayo; it was well #11. From that special experience the founders had the following comments:
“One of our latest babies was 800 grams, less than 2 lbs, when we got him. He was the smallest baby we had. You should see that baby now. Our babies get formula because of that water. They get dressed in clean clothes because of that water.”
-Michael Fortson
“Someday when you get to heaven you’re going to have children run up to you saying, ‘you brought me water’.”
-Dorris Fortson
Drilling clean water wells is the flagship program of Hearts and Hands for Humanity. The well sites are often strategically placed to provide maximum impact in areas of extreme need or where we can partner with other nonprofits that are already in place and doing good work.
As part of our ongoing partnership with Neema Village we bring volunteers to help care for these babies. Hearts and Hands for Humanity has a Humanitarian Safari option for donors. This is an opportunity to go on a trip to Africa and provide mulitiple humanitarian services, as well as explore Africa. Volunteering at Neema Village often occupies at least a day of that trip, but it can be customized to be longer upon request.
Holding and caring for these babies is a special experience that brings tremendous love to the heart. This is a love that we want to share with all who travel with us.

Volunteer At Neema Village Baby Rescue Center
Get on a plane and come with us! You can help drill a clean water well with your own heart and hands, and spend a day volunteering at Neema Village. Unlike other charties which provide humanitarian work in Africa, Hearts and Hands for Humanity provides an option for donors to actually meet the people they are donating to. You don’t have to donate to some abstract stranger across the ocean that you hope the money will go to. You can go to Africa with us on a Humanitarian Safari and make a real connection with these wonderful people. You’ll see in person the hope and joy that we bring to their lives when we provide them with clean water. It transforms their community and gives them hope for future.
